What do you hear when you call your home number from a remote line?

ATT SL 82318 The answer machine states our recorded message. I then press 19 (the preset access code) and nothing connects.

Can you test something for me: Dial in, and when you hear the message, press the * key, does it then ask you for a pin/code?

What happens when you press * (or #) after the greeting starts?

I dial in, four rings, message begins. In two separate calls I tried entering * and then # during the message. The message just continues and when finished the machine is ready to record.

Have you tried from another phone at all, other than your cell? In some cases cell tones aren't recognized so that could be the issue. Can you test a landline by chance?
