To help you with this issue, may I ask:
1) What phone service provider (phone company) you have for this phone line?
2) If you have ANY other devices (phones, fax, answering machine, etc.) attached to this same phone line and if so, are they working properly?

1) What OTHER devices you have attached to this phone line, especially any answering systems and
2) How do you "normally" retrieve your messages?
I see you may have attempted to request a Premium Service (phone call), but that request did NOT come through to my side of this system.

OK - let me see if I have your information correct:
1) AT&T is your phone company (service provider) and
2) You ONLY get your messages (voice messages) via email - at a gmail account?
Is that correct?
If so, is there ANY other way you can get your voice messages?

OK - is this AT&T service a "direct wired" service,
Is it via the AT&T "U-verse" system?
OK - so I will assume U-verse.
OK - let's try this:
Please pick up ANY handset in your system, press the TALK button and QUICKLY listen for the dial tone.
Let me know if you hear a few "beeps" or "pulsed" dial tones - IMMEDIATELY after pressing the TALK button - and then a CLEAR dial tone.
OK - very good. Those "beeps" confirm that the provider's "Voicemail" system is sending your phones a "signal" that voicemail is waiting OR the system needs some attention.
So let send you the steps for how you can get into that voicemail system from your home phone. This is an image of the instructions, so you MAY have to click on the image NAME to see the instructions.
Please let me know if you have ANY trouble seeing the instructions, as I can type them out - if needed.

If you have never used the system, the PIN MAY BE the last 4 digits of your phone number.
Please give that a try.
Did you press the TALK button, then WAIT for the CLEAR DIAL TONE, and then press the * 9 8?
OK - it sounds like you may need to have the PIN set by someone at the AT&T support group. Let me give you their contact information.
