We have an AT&T 5480 cordless phone system with 5 handsets.

Customer Question

We have an AT&T 5480 cordless phone system with 5 handsets. It has worked fine for a long time, but just failed. We can't get a dial tone but instead get a loud continuous beep when we turn on a handset or try to answer a call. We have unplugged the base, disconnected handset batteries as suggested in the online manual, but now the handsets can't find the base even when sitting right next to it.
Any ideas?

3) What phone service provider (phone company) you have for this phone line?
