I have a cordless telephone system, KX-TG9471. All f the sudden it ceases to display the area code on the caller ID. Can you help?

Does this happen on all the handsets?
Does it happen with all area codes, or is it only dropped on local calls?

Do you have any other phones, not part of the panasonic cordless system?

Thanks for the wait. It seems to be happening only at the base station. It happens with all area codes. No other phones besides Panasonic same models, purchased at the same time.

So are you saying the base station shows the 7 digit only while the handsets give the full 10 digit?

OKay, when you dial an outgoing number (long distance), from the base, does that full 10 digit number display on the base during the call?

That is unusual, but it would indicate a fault in the control board in the base station (faulty eeprom).

I was actually expecting that outgoing wouldn't fully show either - meaning that section of the display may be bad.

The one thing you may attempt yourself is to fully reset the system:
1) unplug both power and phone lines from the main base.
2) wait at least 15 minutes, then restore all
3) check for functionality.

If no change, there really is no service option for it, these units can't be fixed, and once the warranty is up there is no practical resolution.

You can't buy just a base, but you can get a base with 1-2 handsets, then pair your existing handsets to it, if the CID issue bothers you.

I unplugged base from power. I also unplugged both the phone cables (2-line system). I have a limited amount of time that we can work on this. Please make sure to record the conversation and give me an incident number, OK? Thanks I will get back in 15 minutes. If we can't resolve it guess we go totally cellular.Peace, John
