I purchased a Panasonic answering machine/phone KXTGEA20.

Customer Question

I purchased a Panasonic answering machine/phone KXTGEA20. The handset is on "Intercom" with no dial tone. How do I get out of "intercom" and back to regular phone answering mode?

Hi and welcome to JustAnswer,Thank you for the question and your patience. Should you still need assistance for information purposes only...Initially, bear with us; re-confirm and post back with the complete model number of the Panasonic base unit. Additionally, have you tried pressing OFF on the handset and/or pressing INTERCOM on the base unit (depending on the model)?
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
I have pressed OFF and intercom and it does nothing. Base unit # ***** *****

I understand. Have you tried to simulate a soft RESET? i.e. unplug the base unit from the mains and remove the batteries of the handset(s) for an extended period of time.
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
I'll try that. See where it leads me!
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
I tried that and it didn't work. I still have "Intercom" and not a telephone line signal.

How long was the phone unplugged / batteries removed please?
