Hello & Welcome,

Sorry I didn't see your question earlier.

Can you tell me if you are trying to somehow connect bluetooth to this system?

I only ask because you mentioned that.

Back to the Uniden:
Can you tell me how long you have owned this system and the TOTAL number of handsets you have for this system?

Thanks

Customer replied 292 days and 23 hours ago.

No I am not trying to connect bluetooth to this system. I have 2 handsets and have owned it about 2 years. My phone number is XXXXX

thanks

Hi again,

Very good. Now I assume that you have some kind of cell phone, but please let me know if that is not right.

What I would like you to do - if possible - is to call your home number from your cell phone and tell me what you hear - in the cell phone.

What you would normally hear is a "ringing" indicator, and I would like to know if you hear something different - like perhaps a "busy" signal.
What we are TESTING is if the phone service to your Uniden is still good.

Please give that a try and let me know what you hear.

Thanks

I live so far out in the woods that I don't have reception for my Motorola cellphone - can you dial up the number?

thanks

Hi again,

Unfortunately, we are not allowed to make contact outside of this system. This is for your privacy and protection of your personal information (like your phone number).

So, we will have to take a different approach.

Since you have no dial tone at all, any I ask if you press the button on one of the handsets and listen very carefully, do you hear ANYTHING at all? Even a slight hum or buzz, or maybe some click every several seconds?

Also, do you have ANY other devices connected to ANY other phone jacks in your home? These devices could be computers or games systems, that kind of thing.

Thanks

Customer replied 292 days and 22 hours ago.

when I press a button there is a click click click and then silence

the computer is probably hooked up to a phone line

thanks

Was that the TALK button that you pressed, or some other button (like a number key)?

Thanks

Customer replied 292 days and 22 hours ago.

a number key. when I press talk it is just silence, the headset reads connecting then talk then the second counter starts counting until I press end

thanks

Hi again,

OK - that is what I was looking for. The handset and the base ARE working with each other, but there is some kind of connection issue with the phone line.

Now, as I mentioned earlier, what I would like you to do is go around your home and check ALL of the phone jacks in your home and if you find ANY devices plugged in to ANY phone jack, I would like you to disconnect those devices. This includes the Uniden main base unit. Once EVERYTHING is disconnected from ALL phone jacks, WAIT about 5 minutes, and then reconnect just the Uniden main base unit to its phone jack. The use one of the handsets to check for dial tone again by pressing the TALK button (not any other keys).

If you get a dial tone back, then it means that something that was connected to the line was "hanging" the phone line, and causing this issue. You can then continue to add devices back to the phone jacks - one at a time - and continue to test for dial tone each time.

You may even want to try a test call to make sure that still works, once you have the dial tone back.

If you can NOT get the dial tone back, we will try resetting the Uniden system as the next step.

Please give this procedure a try and let me know the results.

=======================================
This is only the FIRST STEP in troubleshooting this issue, and there may be more steps we can try. So please DO NOT rate this answer unless this helps fix the issue and you are 100% satisfied with the answer. Instead use the REPLY or CONTINUE CONVERSATION links to respond with your results.

Thanks, XXXXX XXXXX

Hi again,

OK - one more thing we can do with the Uniden - to see if IT is causing the issue. This assumes that you do NOT have a different phone (corded preferred) to plug into the same phone jack to TEST and see if that phone works.

Let's try resetting the Uniden system. Now this MAY clear out any saved messages or phone numbers you have stored in the system, so you will want to record any information that you want for later use.

Cordless system "reset" procedure. This is done by following the steps below.
============================
1) Remove the batteries from ALL handsets in the system.
2) Remove the phone cord from the main base unit AND the phone jack in the wall.
3) Remove the AC power adapter plug from the main base unit AND remove the AC adapter from the power outlet.
4) WAIT 15 minutes. This allows any "stuck" conditions in the components to clear.
5) Reconnect the batteries in all handsets.
6) Reconnect the phone cord between the main base and the phone jack in the wall.
7) Reconnect the AC power adapter plug in the main base unit and then plug the AC adapter into the wall power outlet.
8) Wait 30-60 seconds for the system to reinitialize.
9) Test each handset for proper function.
10) Test each function of the main base unit (answering system, caller id, etc.).
============================
This assumes that you still have all other devices disconnected from all phone jacks in your home.

Please give these things a try and let me know your results. If you still do not have a dial tone after this process, then this would point to the phone line itself. Then it would be time to contact your phone service provider to have them TEST your phone line to diagnose the issue.
