I have Model 27956 GE picture phone (and really like it). However, it stopped displaying the pictures (slide show) and now shows just a blank lighted screen. On incoming calls it no longer displays the caller ID. Anything I could do to make it work again? Thanks.Larry Hedrick
Optional Information: Make: GE (by Thomson) Model: 27956 Already Tried: 1) Unplugged overnight 2) Pressed exit button and navigational buttons 3) Handset works OK I have not tried to add more pictures via memory card
Hello & Welcome, Sorry I didn't see your question earlier. As you may have read, or seen on the internet when looking for a solution to this issue, these particular systems DO have the problem that you describe, and they are not repaired by GE/Thomson. You see that was a "multifunction device" (phone/picture viewer) that was designed a few years ago, but never really "finished" before the product was discontinued. If you do a little searching, you will find stories on the internet that functionality MAY be restored to these system by leaving them disconnected from ALL power for days at a time - from 3 days to a full week, and then plug them back in and they will work again. It seems that ANY power surge for failure will cause these units to go into the "white screen" mode, and they don't come out of that mode unless you disconnect them for a long period of time, . So the summary is that this is a common symptom and you have two basic choices:1) If under warranty, try to return the unit for a refund or2) Try powering the unit (after the long power disconnect) from an Interruptible Power Supply (UPS), such as the one shown here on Amazon >> Click Here <<.I know this is probably not the answer you wanted to hear, and I hope you understand that I will only give you a truthful answer. I too like the "idea" of this system, but it was never really "finished" preperly - as it should have been.I hope this helps. Please let me know what you find or if you have more questions.Take Care, Greg A.
