Customer Question

I have a question about how often I can take 1/2 or 1mg of clonazapam at night to help with sleep and anxiety without becoming physically addicted. I have had insomnia my whole life (now 27) and have tried almost every med out there to help, including melatonin and other natural things. I've been to a sleep doctor, etc. I have a psychiatric nurse practitioner now who believes in symptom relief and she told me I could take 1mg at night indefinitely with no problem. I just started a new job that is a lot of responsibility and driving and I won't be able to keep it unless I can sleep. And the clonazapam really helps. I'm thinking if I only take it 3 times a week, I won't get addicted and that way, I will only have 2 days at work where I will be super tired because of lack of sleep. Like maybe taking it Sunday night, Tuesday and Thursday or something like that. I don't have an addictive personality and I'm always really cautious abut taking anything. That;s why I'm afraid to take this every night. Will I be OK if I only take it 3 times a week or is that too much? I really don't want to get addicted. My nurse practitioner is fine with me taking it less, but she also said it was fine to take every day! What is your advice? Thank you.

Thanks for this question

Yes, I agree with that plan.

taking clonazepam 3 x per week would be fine.

I think that is okay.

You would not get addicted this away
