In the event you wanted greater detail: The amoxicillin component is the penicillin antibiotic. The clavulanic acid (clavulanate) component extends the spectrum of amoxicillin by preventing the amoxicillin from being inactivated by beta-lactamases.pharmacydoc41040.885580787
