For Drug DadI have been taking Oxycontin for chronic back pain and severe arthritis around the clock for 2 years. I am a Registered Nurse and need to if I can take Oxycontin 60 mg x 12 and work in the health field. My doctor has stated she felt had not shown any symptoms of abuse or effects of the med that would keep me from working effectively.

Hi,
Because of the potential legal issue that could arise from a scenario like this, It will be better for you to obtain written note from your doctor stating that the oxycontin will not impair your ability to perform your duties as a nurse. Oxycontin 60mg is on the higher side, but I have seen patient on higher dose than that and still be able function properly.
Make sure you have receipt of submitting this written notice from your doctor to the hospital that you work for. Trust me, nobody is going to tell you not to use it, neither are they going to tell you to use it. You just want to protect yourself.
