When i start the engine i neutral, and press the clucth pedal i can hear a uggly sound. Is the problem the clucth itself or do you think it can be a wire issue?Kind rgds - Espen

Hi..
Hopefully i can help..
If your referring to as "wire" the cable or clutch cable, then it would certainly be the best place to start making checks in regards XXXXX XXXXX condition of the clutch cable wether loose from it mounts on the gearbox or release, clutch fork/or pedal or the cable has started to fray which you will notice or the cable has over stretched - thus you'll have difficulty in disengaging the clutch effectively/fully enough to select any gear hence too the crunching of gears etc - if that has happened then cable will need replaced - so again have a look at the cable if it is a cable type which from that year i think it will be, and see if you can spot anything as above - If hydraulic clutch type then it will have slave cylinder at the gearbox and check for any obvious fluid leaks there and too inside the car around the clutch master cylinder up in the pedal box or clutch pedal.. so that would be the best thing to check first "clutch cable" carefully at least before you consider anything like the clutch assembly being at fualt though if all above seems to be ok and fully check including the fork itself which the cable is attached just to be sure it isn't damaged and too up insde the pedal box checking the actualy clutch pedal itself - then it may well pin point to a clutch assembly fault....
