.I have a question about parakeet who I'm pretty sure is constipated. It's not a question about being egg bound because this bird is male. He recently had what I perceived as a cold (sneezing, coughing, ruffled feathers, etc). I upped the vitamins in food and water slightly and he appeared to recover from that, but now he's having a very difficult time with bowel movements, and yes, there is quite a bit of poop stuck to him at his vent. He's no longer coughing/sneezing and is more energetic, but he is very uncomfortable (and slightly ruffled) and appears to be straining, AND now he is making a noise I haven't heard before, which makes me thing he has pain. He sits there with eyes closed making this noise. In my case, he is in a community of keets - I have four in a large flight cage, so it's extremely difficult to try to catch him in there. I also feel that my attempt to catch him will stress him even more. I would appreciate your advise! In case this is relevant, I feed my birds a varied diet. In addition to seeds, the regularly eat green apples and raw carrots.
