Hello, JACustomer. I have been a Veterinary Nurse for over 15 years and would be happy to help you today. I'm reviewing your question right now.

Expert:  PitRottMommy replied 2 months ago.

Good morning, Deborah, I apologize for the delay in hearing back from someone.

Huggy Bear is rather young for an oral infection. What symptoms are you seeing? Do you have any pictures to provide?

Customer: replied 2 months ago.
His top gums are very swollen
Customer: replied 2 months ago.
I thought it might have been molars coming in, but it is getting worse
Customer: replied 2 months ago.
trying to get a picture
Expert:  PitRottMommy replied 2 months ago.

You may very well be correct then. It would be best to get him in to see an exotic vet that can help you with his care. Unfortunately, there's not a great deal that can be done at home aside from providing cold things to eat that might decrease the swelling. What is your city and state?

Customer: replied 2 months ago.
There are no vets here that will treat him
Expert:  PitRottMommy replied 2 months ago.

Traveling may be the only option then.

Customer: replied 2 months ago.
The picture did not work
Customer: replied 2 months ago.
no place to travel to. he is considered wildlife not exotic
Expert:  PitRottMommy replied 2 months ago.

There is an attachment function on the page that should allow you to post pictures and video. You can also use websites like tinypic.com and youtube.com to upload pictures and video respectively. Once this is done, a set of links will appear. You can then post the link back and I can access them.

Expert:  PitRottMommy replied 2 months ago.

That certainly depends on where you are located. There are veterinarians who will treat raccoons under exotic care. Some states do mark them as wildlife, but that often does not prevent a veterinarian from treating them.

Customer: replied 2 months ago.
it does here in Illinois as well as Wisconsin
Customer: replied 2 months ago.
cannot get the picture to work. I am not that tech savvy
Customer: replied 2 months ago.
Is there not an antibiotic I can add to his water?
Customer: replied 2 months ago.
are you still there?
Expert:  PitRottMommy replied 2 months ago.

Antibiotics would need to be prescribed and you'd have to have your pet examined for that to happen. We never give antibiotics by water because many won't drink them, thus making the effort pointless. They would need to be given orally.
