Hello. I am sorry to hear you are worried about giving Prescott a double dose of his Keppra.

Can you tell me how much he weighs and what his normal dosing is?

Expert:  Candy replied 11 months ago.

How far apart did you give the doses or did he get it all at once

Customer: replied 11 months ago.
He takes 3/4 of a blue pill every 8 hours, he took it at his normal time 9:30 then again at 10:30 he ways 15 lbs

thx

I am not sure how many mgs the tablet is that you are giving but normal dosing can be as high as 10mg per pound of body weight so 150 mgs for Prescott.

That said studies have been done showing that dogs can handle 10xs the normal dosing with no lasting side effects.

A one time double dose would not be expected to cause any serious toxicity issues. He could have some vomiting and you may see some sedative effects but he should be just fine.

If he becomes so sedate you can not wake him then he should be seen by a vet but I really do not expect to see any serious complications.

I hope this helps ease your mind.
