How many and what kind of adverse reactions have you seen to vectra? Do you have a preferred preventative for fleas and ticks?
Hello, the most common reaction we see to the Vectra products are severe itching and skin irritation , and this is only in about 15% of our patients. The biggest draw back with this product is that it is much more liquid then other flea preventions. For large dogs for Fleas only I like the Comfortis which is a pill given once a month or Advantage which is a topical ( now available over the counter)If ticks are also a problem then Frontline Plus ( also available over the counter)For small dogs for fleas we use Revolution which is also a heartworm preventive, comfortis or advantage. If ticks then Frontline PlusFor Cats we prefer Revolution but Advantage or Frontline work well also.I hope this helps, please reply back if you have additional questions and I will be glad to continue helping. We are testing a new rating system is you have any problem with it please let me know.
