My fancy goldfish has been laying on it's side at the bottom of the tank for a few months now. I've tried treating with swimbladder Medicine and auarium salts and even tried giving him peas to make sure he's going to the toilet. I've also had him isolated from the other fish but nothing seems to help. Until the last week or so he's still had the energy and ability to eat but now he's even struggling to get to the food. I don't like the thought of him struggling so I need some advice please.
You've basically tried all the known recommended treatment for swim bladder disorder (sbd) so treating the fish further with medicines and treatments would be futile.
So what it basically comes down to is the fish's quality of life. If you feel that the fish has a decent quality of life then leave things as they are, if not then unfortunately you might need to consider euthanizing the fish.
.
That's what I thought. What is the kindest way to end my fishes life as I really don't want him to suffer any more than nessessary?
The easiest and most humane way to euthanize a fish is by using Clove Oil.
Use 12 drops of Clove Oil per every gallon/4 litres of water. Mix the water and the clove oil well. Place the fish in the tank/container where the clove oil and water is. Wait about 15-20 minutes, make sure the gills are not moving anymore and the fish will have had a very peaceful passing.
Warm regards.

It not an easy decision but if that is a peaceful way to do it then that's what I'll try. Thank you for your advice.
You're most welcome and thank you for your accept and kind feedback.
