hello, my name is XXXXX XXXXX I was given aferret in february of this year. She's been sick and all forms of antibiotics since I got her. I was sent to a university vetenarian hospital. I was told my pet has a cyst in her adrenal glands. I need 2,000 dollars for surgery. Please let me know if this type of surgery will help her. She is extremely thin less than a pound. She eats, but has diahrea constanly. I feel awful because I can't afford the surgery. Is there a program or organization that can help?
Pet's Sex: FemalePet's Age: 3Type of Animal: ferret Already Tried: amoxicillin and other antibiotics for about six months. I was also given a medicine for cancer I can't remember the name. she does not have diahrea while she's on the medication, but she doesn't eat much. The vet switched her to marshall's pet food. She has always been given good quality food and bottled water. please help
Hello, I'm sorry that you and your ferret are going through this. When there is a cyst or tumor on the adrenal glands, this type of surgery is very effective. Perhaps it would be possible for you to arrange a schedule of monthly or weekly payments with the hospital. Maybe a family member would give you a loan. There are groups and programs that help, but with the economy the way it is right now, many of them don't have a large supply of funds. Still, it can't hurt to try. This link has a list of organizations that offer financial help to pet owners who can't afford vet bills: http://www.uan.org/index.cfm?navId=163#National_Organizations_with_Assistance_Programs If the hospital is a member of the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) that group has a program to help qualifying pet owners. A vet has to apply for you, but you can get more information and download the forms here: American Animal Hospital Association http://www.aahahelpingpets.org/ Care Credit offers low-cost loans. If that's something that would help you, you can read more here: Care Credit www.carecredit.com Here is a list of ideas for people who can't afford vet care: http://www.hsus.org/pets/pet_care/what_you_can_do_if_you_are_having_trouble_affording_veterinary_care.html If you have more questions, just let me know by clicking on REPLY.
