Our vet recommended giving our dog Tylenol 325mg every 8 hours, is this ok? I thought you shouldn''t give your dog Tylenol. He is having trouble with his one back leg and we are not sure if its in his lower back and a nerve could be pinched. He wanted to see if he was any better after taking the Tylenol as the dog may be in pain but doesn''t need an anti-inflammatory. Can you offer any suggestions?
Thanks for the question.Tylenol can be given to dogs under veterinary supervision, I have prescribed it myself in the past. Like any drug tylenol can have side effects but in the dog this is usually associated with long term usage. Here is a link to a good web site which covers the subject : http://www.petplace.com/dogs/acetaminophen-toxicity-in-dogs/page1.aspxAnd another link to a web page which covers it is use in arthritis : http://www.vetrica.com/care/dog/arthritis.shtmlIf I can advise you further please get back in touch.Scott Nimmo BVMS
