my ball pythons "skin" is cold to the touch. i do not have a primary reptile heat source. i am using a small lamp

The skin shouldn't be cold but it can be cool. You need to get the correct heat lamps and lighting soon since these are very important to her health. If not corrected she could develope upper respiratory infections, her immune system could become compromised and she could be suceptible to various diseases.
