Is a brown spotted white snake, olive green on top in a lake poisnous.
Already Tried: We were fishing yesterday, and one was tring to get our fish. It had it's mouth on one, but let it go when I pulled the fish out of the water. Is it save to eat the fish. Janet
Thank you for your question. While there are a number of snakes who might have been keen to have your fish (ie Plain Belly Water Snake, Banded Water Snake, Mississippi Green Water Snake, etc), the only poisonous water snake in the United States is the Water Moccasin (aka Cottonmouth). They look like this (LINK1, LINK2). If this white mouthed snake was trying to steal your fish, then I would discard this fish to be safe.
I hope this information is helpful. Please do let me know if you have any further questions. If you have no further questions, feedback is always appreciated.
All the best,
