My dog (8 months) has just eaten the contents of Viscotears eye gel which contains carbomer 2mg & excipients eg Sorbitol + cetrimide 0.1mg/g. The gel is a 10mg tube. Are these contents harmful.

I'm sorry that your question wasn't answered in a timely manner. Studies in dogs fed carbomer at doses far exceeding that in the Viscotears product produced no adverse effects. The other ingredients are of no significance due to their very low concentration in that product. There would be no need to induce emesis or treat in any manner. As with ingesting anything unusual transient gastrointestinal distress in the form of inappetence, vomiting and/or diarrhea can arise but your Havanese wasn't intoxicated.
