He's an 8 week old Yorkie. He sneezes and shakes his head

Customer Question

He's an 8 week old Yorkie. He sneezes and shakes his head wildly and what looks like mucus flings everywhere. Just tonight he did it for the second night, then rolled all over the grass on his side.
JA: I'm sorry to hear that. What is the dog's name?
Customer: Bowie
JA: Is there anything else important you think the veterinarian should know about Bowie?
Customer: Just that he sneezes a lot, and that when he rolled around it almost looked like a seizure.

I'm sorry that your question wasn't answered in a timely manner. Sneezing with such mucus production is more consistent with upper respiratory infection than an allergic rhinitis in a young puppy although allergy isn't out of the question. Bowie's vet will want to carefully palpate Bowie's lymph nodes under his jaw to see if they suggest infection and directly visualize Bowie's tonsils to see if they, too, are inflamed.

I don't believe that you witnessed a seizure. His behavior is consistent with a dog "scratching its back". Please respond with further questions or concerns if you wish.
