Our 2 yr old papillon is vomitting and having very bad

Customer Question

Our 2 yr old papillon is vomitting and having very bad diarrhea
She is only 4 lbs. this is unusual for her she is usually well.
After two days of this I was worried it was something serious and her dehydration level was becoming dangerous.
We brought her to vet. Blood work was done and rehydrated anti nausea meds etc
Gave all blood work tests came back not showing anything much
Sent to vet hospital for ultrasound which showed nothing
They still couldn't get her vomiting or runs under control
They have now kept her overnight 4 nights. The bill is skyrocketing. We need to take her home but she is no better except more hydrated. Still not eating and sick.
They can't seem to find anything to pin point what's wrong.
They've given her antibiotics, dewormer, anti nausea meds and fluids
She has to be picked up tonight. We can't afford another night.
But have no answers and out thousands.

Good Morning and welcome! I am Dr. Loretta, a licensed veterinarian and I am happy to answer your question.

I am so sorry that your sweet Sophia is having these problems. Since all of the diagnostics have been done, it appears that this may be a case of IBD which is Inflammatory Bowel Disease. This is associated with allergies and will not show up on any lab work or even ultrasounds. Biopsies will have to be taken to be sure. The treatment can be different but it usually consists of a hypoallergenic diet along with steroids or some form of anti inflammatory medication.

This LINK will explain in more detail.

Ask your vet about this.

Does that make sense to you?

Please let me know if you have ANY other questions. My goal is to give you 100% satisfaction and if you are not yet satisfied, please REPLY so I can clarify for you.

Sincerely, ***** *****
