Hi, I'm Dr. Bonk. I'm sorry to hear about Buster's troubles. Itchy, smelly skin can be very frustrating for both dogs and owners. I have had some luck giving these chronically itchy dogs a novel protein diet, which basically means a protein that they have not had before. Anymore, most dog food brands make a variety of flavors such as bison, venison, duck, salmon, or lamb. Since traditionally dog foods have been made of mostly chicken and beef, these different proteins can help their skin.

I have also had good luck by giving these animals skin care products from

They have some really good fish oil products as well as a skin & itch homeopathic remedy that has been beneficial to some dogs. These products contain omega fatty acids which help to fight inflammation and therefore itchiness. This website also has some other sprays, ointments and supplements that might be worth a try. These products have helped to keep some patients away from steriods to help their skin.

I hope this helps. Please contact me with any further questions you may have. Thank you and good luck!
