Significant toxicity can occur in dogs when they bite into those metered dose inhalers. Clinical signs of significant overdose may include: arrhythmias (irregular heart rates), hypertenision, fever, vomiting, mydriasis (wide open pupils), tremors, and central nervous system stimulation. Decreased serum potassium and phosphorus levels may occur as well. Decontamination procedures are generally not effective when aerosol canisters are bitten into. How is Skippy currently acting, please?

He just seems kind of quiet but will still follow me around the house. When I touch under his neck it seems like his pulse is racing.
Expert:  Dr. Michael Salkin replied 6 months ago.

His pulse may indicate arrhythmia and hypertension. This would best be assessed by an on-call vet and treated with a beta-blocking agent such as atenolol or metoprolol. Do you have such a vet available to you?
