Hello again I have worked out an answer for you below ... 1. Phenergan (generically known as promethazine) is not commonly prescribed for dogs but there are references in the literature regarding it's use as an anti-emetic for dogs in which case it is dosed at a rate of 1 mg per kg of body weight per day either as a single or divided dose { twice a day } 2. Phenergan would be unlikely to make his renal problem worse or have an adverse effect on dogs prone to fits. I hope I have covered your question fully enough but if you would like further clarification or to talk things over a bit more then I will be on-line for the next hour or so and I will be more than pleased to continue working with you. How should phenargan be given, can it be given IV
Customer: replied 6 months ago.
Hi, doctor are you there
Expert:  Dr Scott Nimmo replied 6 months ago.
Hello again, I had assumed you wanted to use phenargan tablets but it is also available as a rectal suppository. However it is available as an injectable, but this is even more rarely used in dogs, however in this case the preferred parenteral route of administration is by deep intramuscular injection. { Do not use it sub cut } Regards, ***** be kind enough to rate my service to you after we have concluded our dialogue, such feedback helps me maintain the quality of my answers.
