Customer Question

My dog seems to be suffering from acid reflux. He's constantly swallowing and licking his lips. Are there human medicines he can take to help alleviate symptoms?
JA: I'm sorry to hear that. The Veterinarian will know if your dog will be able to digest that. What is the dog's name and age?
Customer: Levi is 4 years old
JA: Is there anything else the Veterinarian should be aware of about Levi?
Customer: He recently had a setback after TPLO surgery on his knee. So I'm guessing the reflex is related to anxiety from that.
JA: I'm sending you to a secure page on JustAnswer so you can place the $5 fully refundable deposit now. While you're filling out that form, I'll tell the Veterinarian about your situation and connect you two.

There are several Medications that can be used to help him. He is showing signs of Nausea.

Pepcid AC is the most common and you can give #1) 10mg Tablet every 12 hours.

Tagamet is also good for this type of problem is 3 to 5 mg per pound once a day

Zantac is also good for reflux 1mg a pound every 8-12 hours.

In my opinion, the best to use is the Pepcid Ac.

Pepto Bismol can also be used at .5 per pound of body weight

All of these can help with the Reflux and nausea.

Just to be clear the Pepto is 1/2 mg per pound of body weight. Did you have any other questions about this? If I have addressed your concerns, please take a moment to rate my service.
