Get Your Dog Care Questions Answered by Experts
Hi there. My name is ***** ***** I'm happy to help you with your question. Just like an in person consult, I have a few questions of my own to help ensure I give you the best advice possible....
Is this her first litter?
Do you know how many puppies she has?
Are you positive that it's 62 days from the last breeding?
Thanks for the additional information. I really appreciate it.
It's not unusual for dogs who have already had one litter to go into labor at 62 days or 64 days, so it's possible that she's just in the starting moments of her whelping.
I'd just keep an eye on her...see if she begins nesting or shows any other signs of labor. If she shows any other troubling behaviors such as vomiting, diarrhea, or acting like she's having contractions with no actual puppies, then she needs to be seen by an emergency vet.
Vomiting once or twice in the early stages isn't surprising, but if she has more then I'd be concerned.
Not always. It really depends on the dog and how much room is in there.
