I have a dachshund that seems to be in a good bit of discomfort. I think he may have pulled a muscle or something in his back.

Hello and thank you for using this site to help you. My name is ***** ***** I will be happy to assist you today.

This breed is prone disc issues along the spine. Sometimes the cushioning inside hardens and presses on the nerve. What you may find with this is that the dog yelps when touched, is reluctant to play , jump on furniture, or go up and down steps.

To be certain this is the problem an x ray or myelogram may need to be done.

You can give him strict cage rest with leashed potty outings only and as long as he is not on other anti inflammatory drugs from your vet you can try aspirin for today to ease the pain. If possible alterante warm and cool packs over the back if he will let you.

If you see that he suddenly cannot walk and is dragging his legs it is an emergency.

I will direct you to a site that goes over dosing of aspirin
