Customer Question

My dog is seven years old...she's a shiztu/poodle mix. She usually eats very well, for the last two days she has not been eating. She ate some of her food yesterday, left a bit in the bowl and today she ate nothing. She has been drinking lots of water. She has done this before, but she was also lethargic at that time...it turned out she had pyometria. I am concerned...what could be the problem this time?

Hello & welcome, I am Dr. B, a licensed veterinarian and I would like to help you with your wee one today.
Has she had any retching, gagging, vomiting, lip licking, or gulping?
Did the increased thirst only just happen in the past 24 hours?
Are her gums pink or pale/white? Moist or sticky?
If you press on her belly, does she have any discomfort, tenderness, or tensing?
Could she have eaten something she should not have (ie bones, toys, rocks, plants, chemicals, etc)?
Has she had any diarrhea?
Was she spayed after she had the pyometra?
