Customer Question

My chi twisted his leg walking on three legs but not in pain until I touch the sore spot ??

hello and thank you for requesting me. If he is not using the leg then it is hurting him even though you can touch it.Dogs are very stoic when it comes to pain. Are you seeing any swelling? Which leg is it?
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
No
Expert:  Sally G. replied 1 year ago.
Which leg is it?
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
The right back
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Ok what should I do for him ?
Expert:  Sally G. replied 1 year ago.
This could be a torn cruciate ligament, it could be luxating patella which is when the knee cap goes in and out of the groove or it can be due to a disc problem in the back
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Said yiu could not call?
Expert:  Sally G. replied 1 year ago.
request the call again it may have been a site error. As long as you are in the US I can call you
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Yes when he was little snapped in and out all the time
Expert:  Sally G. replied 1 year ago.
Okay then you may be looking at luxating patella, but do not discount a torn ligament
Expert:  Sally G. replied 1 year ago.
If the ligament is torn the vet will recommend rest and pain meds
Expert:  Sally G. replied 1 year ago.
you can try giving aspirin for pain for a couple of days and see if that makes a difference.
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Can I give him aspirin??
Expert:  Sally G. replied 1 year ago.
Do not use Tylenol or ibuprofen use plain aspirin and give with food
Expert:  Sally G. replied 1 year ago.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Thank you but do you think I need to take him in I tjin that will create more Trama
Expert:  Sally G. replied 1 year ago.
Take the dog out for potty reasons only and make sure there is no active play
Expert:  Sally G. replied 1 year ago.
Give it a day or two with the aspirin, if there is no improvement then you will have to have him looked at
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
He is nt playing but does go out
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Ok thank you for your help
Expert:  Sally G. replied 1 year ago.
okay good. Try the aspirin and see if it makes a difference. It may be that he needs long term anti inflammatory drugs and for that you want to talk with your vet.Aspirin can cause stomach ulcers if used too much
Expert:  Sally G. replied 1 year ago.
