Customer Question

My sisters 6 lb dog ate one of our mom's one a day women's 50 + vitamins about 4.5 hours ago. He is acting fine but we didn't know if we should make him throw up?

Aloha! You're speaking with Dr. Michael Salkin
No, we're only concerned about the amount of vitamin D3 in that vitamin and there isn't nearly enough to intoxicate a 6 lb dog. There's 1000 IU in one vitamin and it takes 1800 IU per lb of body weight (over 10,000 IU for him) to cause acute renal failure in dogs. You don't need to induce emesis. I don't expect any adverse effects at all.
