Our 8month old golden doodle ingested about 8 20mg furosemide tablets of mine, what should we be concerned about

Hi, I'm Dr. Deb. I will do my best to assist you today.
I'm sorry for this concern for Benji.
I do have a few questions to ask about him first, if you don't mind:

1. How long ago did he ingest your furosemide?
2. How much does he weigh?
3. How is he acting?

There may be a very slight delay after I receive your answers since I have to type up a response to you. Deb

about 40 lbs

seems normal

Jon:
Thanks so much for the answers to my questions.

While this is a somewhat higher dose than would normally be prescribed for a dog this size, it wouldn't be considered a toxic dose, thank goodness, especially since too much time has passed to induce vomiting.

Signs to monitor might be increased urination which might in turn cause an electrolyte imbalance although I would be surprised if it did in this case. Other signs to monitor would be lethargy, weakness, restlessness, vomiting or diarrhea.
If any of these signs occur, then I would have her seen as soon as possible.

I would encourage her to eat and especially to drink perhaps a little more than she normally would on the off chance that she starts to urinate more frequently.

I hope this helps. Deb
