I have a two year old minature german schnauzer. She has been fine today apart from thi evening noticed she is very quiet and just wants to lay in her bath quietly. Throughout the day has been on three 20-30 minute walks and was fine. What do you think has made her go lifeless all of a sudden? Thank you.

My dog is named Ilsa!

RebeccaVet :

My name is Rebecca. I am a veterinarian, and will do my best to help.

RebeccaVet :

If you look at her gums, are they pink in color?

RebeccaVet :

If so, she has good circulation, hydration, and probably good blood pressure.

RebeccaVet :

The things that can make a dog go suddenly lifeless are heat stroke, heart problems, low blood sugar, fever, and electrolyte imbalances ( such as low sodium or potassium).

RebeccaVet :

If I were able to examine her, I would check her gum color, feel the strength of her pulses, listen to her heart, test her reflexes, and take her rectal temperature (normal is between 101 and 102).

I am not seeing any responses from you. I hope you can see what I am writing.

I can try to connect with you another way, if I do not hear from you soon.

I hope you can see what I am saying now ( and that you see my Ilsa!)

This could be better in the morning, and you may never know what it was. If her gums look at all pale, if her temp ( if you get to take it ) is 104, those would be reasons to take her to emergency tonight.

If her breathing seems regular, her gums are pink, and she did eat an drink some recently, she sounds stable for now.

Please let me know what else I can answer.

Hello Christine,
How is Ilsa today?

Thank you for the great rating!
