My dauchshund has an arrowhead shaped bald spot on her head. She is around 14 months old. We got her from a rescue center and she had the spot when we got her.Do you have any idea what this may be and what we should do?
Hello! My name is XXXXX XXXXX it will be my pleasure to help you with your dog today.

Unfortunately Dachshunds are infamous for developing baldness. This is commonly called Dachshund Pattern Alopecia, but it's also called Doxie Baldness and is very, very, very common in this breed.

Some dogs develop the baldness on their ears, but others have been known to have their chest bald or even their whole head. It really depends on the dog.

There's more information, as well as a great support group of other Doxie owners here:

The good news is that this doesn't usually require treatment. As long as the dog isn't itching or seeming uncomfortable, there's nothing to do. some dogs will have this problem on and off their whole lives where the hair will go away and then grow back only to disappear again.

If this were me, I'd just keep an eye on it...if your dog seems uncomfortable or itchy, then you should have your vet do a skin scraping to make sure this isn't parasitic or infection..but I think it's likely just plain old Doxie baldness.

I hope this helps.
