My dog was hit by a car that rolled him under the car and he received burns from the oil pan. I have been using some yellow sav that the vet gave me to use but, after licking, the wound has opened and there is a gaping hole but no ooze. My city does not have a twenty four hour service so is there anything as far as comfort and to help avoid infection until I can get him to the regular vet on Monday?
Optional Information: Type of Animal: Walker hound/beagle mix Pet's Gender: Male Pet's Age: 3 Name of Dog: Max Already Tried: I have used the sav that the vet gave me for his wounds and started today spraying hydrocortizone on the wound.

If possible, shaving with clippers (not scissors) is recommended to remove hair and debris. Please do not use scissors as you can accidentally cut the skin.Other recommendations we consider then are the use of antibacterial shampoo products. (EXAMPLE HERE) or a chlorhexidine scrub (EXAMPLE HERE)- often not to bathe the entire body, but to scrub the local area with a moist towel for example.Once cleaned, some veterinarians also use certain sprays such as gentocin or even topical neosporin. - Animax can be considered as well. (EXAMPLE here)Depending on the degree of the infection, systemic antibiotics are considered.Common antibiotics for these cases include:- Clavamox (LINK HERE)- Cephalexin (LINK HERE)I hope the above information is helpful in making your dog feel better! Please reply using the CONTINUE THE CONVERSATION button if more information is needed at any time.Positive feedback (EXCITED FACE or 5 STARS) is appreciated as this is the only way I know you have received the information and I receive credit for my time. Please remember to ONLY rate my answer when you are 100% satisfied. Does the wound need to be wrapped after cleaning and medicating?
It should not be wrapped, but an E-Collar used if there is licking at the area. This is meant to be a running dialogue, and for this reason it is very IMPORTANT that you reply using the REPLY TO EXPERT button if more information is needed at any time BEFORE rating.Positive RATING (EXCITED FACE or 5 STARS) and bonus if happy is appreciated as this is the only way I know you have received the information and I receive credit for my time. Please remember to ONLY rate my answer when you are 100% satisfied.
