Hello hello hello from Philly, PA - how are ya??? My sister is coming to visit me from the Midwest and she has 2 new beagle puppies (about 3-4 months old). We were wondering how my dogs would handle the new babies?? I think Ivan would be OK cuz he is just dying to play all of the time . . . just worried about Effie. Her herapist told me last yr to keep her away from small dogs (who might look like prey) as well as folks who are afraid of dogs. Whattya think??

Hello to you as well!!!
We're doing okay here. I don't know if you caught the news last week, but I happen to live in the part of MN/WI that flooded like crazy...we've got a wet house, a destroyed truck, but all the furries and ourselves are good...and that's the important part!!
I think that as long as you monitor things, it's likely going to be okay. I know that Effie can be a bit temperamental, so it might not be a bad idea to have her trail a leash behind her, just in case you need to grab something to seperate her and the puppies. You might want to do the same thing with Ivan, just so he doesn't accidentally smush them...he probably doesn't know he's a big dog.
Just don't force things with Effie. If she tries to ignore the pups, or tries to get away from them, let her. She may decide that she simply doesn't want to engage...and that's perfectly okay. I'm sure that Ivan will keep them more than entertained!!

Thanks for the info. Geeez - sorry about your trouble -the worst thing we have here in Philly is dealing with 101 degrees. It should NOT be this hot anywhere on earth. I am glad you and your fur family are OK. Lots of distress though. We will pray to the doggie heavens for you and the babies.
Thanks...and have fun with the Beagle babies!!!
