my dog ate most of a silicone gel breast form about 10 days ago, she pooped it out later.
are there any signs of harm i should be watching for? i'm fearful that she's feeling a bit lethargic, but may be just my imagination..

Welcome to JustAnswer! I am a licensed veterinarian and specialist and will do my best to assist you today!

If illness is seen from this, rather than "toxicity" it is more a result of a digestive disturbance.

Rarely would this cause a blockage, where you would be monitoring for signs including loss of appetite, abdominal pain, vomiting, blood in the stool or straining to defecate.

If everything has been defecated out -that is great and there should be no delayed illness.

With that said - some thoughts to consider if stomach upset is seen:

For cases such as this - Some owners do a trial run - meaning they attempt a bland diet of boiled chicken and rice for a few days to see if the signs resolve - and if so, consider another diet.

Rather than large meals - you might wish to start feeding smaller meals more often, which will not lead to the full belly and therefore the hope for improved comfort.

Regarding stomach upset, Pepcid A/C (Famotidine) is also a consideration - dosages and usage information here: http://www.petplace.com/drug-library/famotidine-pepcid/page1.aspx

This can be given 30 minutes before a meal.

Otherwise with vomiting, x-rays would then be considered.

I hope this information is helpful!

so, the silicone material (which has apprently passed) is not in itself toxic, and aside from signs of possible of intestional blockage (which there are none) there should be no ill effect?

thanks
