my dog is walking with stiff back legs and her back is arched. She looks toward the ground with her head hung low, she seems to be ill.

Hi,
Is she vomiting or trying to vomit?
Is she willing to eat?
How long has this been going on?
Thanks,Lynn
She is not vomiting. She is willing to ear. This happened today. She is favoring her hind legs and is sleepy and is limiting her movements. When she stands us she appears uncomfortable and walks with stiff hind legs and an arched back.
It sounds like your dog has suffered some type of injury either to her back/spinal column, or possibly her neck. At her age, its also possible that it is some type of degenerative condition. I would highly recommend a visit to your vet as soon as you are able. They may need to take an x-ray or ultrasound to determine what is going on.
If you can't have her seen until tomorrow some vets recommend buffered aspirin for pain as long as she doesn't suffer from any medical conditions (kidney disease, etc.), and is not on any other medications. Here is a link to a page about this if you are interested:

If you have further questions let me know.
Best wishes,
Lynn
