Is hyaluronan (Trixsyn) worth the time and money for my dog

Resolved Question:

Is hyaluronan (Trixsyn) worth the time and money for my dog? He had a lower spine compression injury several years ago which effected movement in his right leg.We have been giving him this for three years but I don't feel it is doing any good.Any thing else to try?

Hello and Thank You for contacting JustAnswer

If this is not working after three years then it may not be worth it. You may want to try a glucosamine in combination with chondroitin sulfate supplement. This seems to be more effective for some dogs.

Here is dosing information

You may want to ask your vet if they feel that a medication called Adequan would be helpful.

Here is more on this medication.

I hope this has given you some additional options to discuss with your vet

I have read that gluco/chon has been shown to be ineffective

That is not true , while every dog is different we recommend it daily because it does work. The Adequan works much more quickly and is a monthly injection.
