Thanks for the question.

Penicillin will come in many different strengths, have a look on the bottle it should say somewhere how many units of penicillin are in 1 ml.

The typical dose of penicillin G for injection ranges from 10,000 to 25,000 units per pound of your dog's bodyweight twice a day for a five to seven day period.

If I have not covered your question fully enough or you would like to ask more I will be online for the next hour or so and I will be at your disposal.

So a 300,000 / ml would mean a 1cc dose as a minimum for a 3 lb dog? If I read that correctly.

Hello again,

1. A 3 lb dog would need a minimum dose of 3 x 10,000 = 30,000 IU

2. If the concentration is 300,000 IU per ml then the dose would be 0.1 ml.

3. The dose is very low in terms of volume because this sort of penicillin may be formulated for use in livestock such as cattle as opposed to small dogs. If I was dealing with such a case using that drug I might well give 0.2 ml twice a day.
