my dog ingested albuterol sulfate(2 tubes) for inhalation what should i do
Optional Information: Pet's Sex: MalePet's Age: <1 Already Tried: nothing he seems fine except his heartrate is up and he is jumpy
Hi, thanks for your question - did he puncture the inhaler tubes with his teeth? How long ago did this happen?
yes he punctured both tubes almost an hour and a half
How old is he? How much does he weigh?
he will be one dec.27 bull terrier 25 lbs
OK, thanks for the reply. I do not expect there to be a significant absorption of the medicine, by this route. Most dogs who puncture inhaler cartridges are not likely to have any serious toxicity symptoms. As you may have already read elsewhere, rapid heart rate and excitability are common symptoms of albuterol intoxication, but I would not expect these issues to create any serious problems in this case. Keep a close eye on him, and see a veterinarian immediately if you notice any distress.
