Benadryl For Dogs

This answer was rated:

Can I give my 90 lb Lab a Benadryl? He seems to be very itchy and uncomfortable. He does not have fleas. I have checked with a fine tooth comb and is showing no redness anywhere, or hot spots just really itchy!

Hi, thanks for your question. Benadryl is considered safe for dogs, at 1 mg per pound. A 90 pound dog would typically be given 75 to 100 mg of Benadryl every 12 hours.

Fatty acid supplements such as fish oil can also help when added to the diet.
