I have just a few questions as a new owner of a Pomerain pupy

Resolved Question:

I have just a few questions as a new owner of a Pomerain pupy currently nine weeks old.

1. He has has recieved the following vacination at 6 weeks old
Distemper-Hepatitis
Canine Parvovirus
Rabies
Strongid   What vacinations maybe required now that he is 9 weeks old.
2. He appears to be scratching alot but when I check there is no sign of fleas. Is this a habit. could it just be hot spots and what would you suggest since I have been informed that it maybe to early for flea treatment.
3. He has dark tear drops in the lower corner of his eyes which is discloring the lower portion of his outter eyes. Is this normal. Is there anything that would stop the progression
4. At nine weeks old is it too early to worrie about crate training.

Hi there! Congrats on your new puppy! I'll address your questions in order.

1. He will get a booster of the same vaccine (the distemper combo). Usually, they'll only get a parvo vaccine at 6 weeks, but some people give the five way combo as yours received. Here is a link to the puppy vaccination schedule:

2. The scratching may be allergies if fleas aren't being found, or it may just be that he's itchy now and then, just like you and I. It isn't too early to treat for fleas; frontline and advantage are OK for puppies 8 weeks and older. Revolution can be applied to puppies over 6 weeks of age.

3. Dark colored tears can be normal if it's just a little and doesn't pour down his face, or it may signify a problem such as a blocked tear duct if the eyes run constantly. There are some products that can help clean away tear lines, but use caution that you don't get anything in the eye itself. Have the vet take a look at the next appointment. For now, wiping them away with a damp, warm cloth will suffice. Some links:

4. It's never too early to start crate training! In fact, starting the process while he's young is a great plan! May make things easier for you than waiting til he's older and stubborn. :-) I'm including links to teach how to crate train as well:

I hope I have helped! Please feel free to reply at any time if you have further questions! Have fun!!
