my puppy likes to suck (maybe nurse) @ the crook of my arm.

Resolved Question:

my puppy likes to "suck" (maybe nurse) @ the crook of my arm. Have you ever heard of this? he does it about once a day either before he goes to sleep or just to take a rest.

Dear friend,

This is due to your baby being weaned too early. He finds comfort in nursing on your arm much like a baby takes a pacifier.

It just shows how much he loves you. You are now his "mommy"!

He sounds wonderful!!

Warmest best wishes,

Terri

I've never heard of any dog doing that. Should I be trying to wean him now?
Expert:  Terri Riba replied 7 years ago.

Dear friend,

If it does not bother you, you do not have to stop him because this is harmless.

He is just soothing himself by nursing on your arm.

If you want him to stop distract him with food or a treat when he starts doing it.

Please let me know if you still have questions about this.

Warmest best wishes,

Terri
