my dog has small red bumps (they look like insect bites) mostly

Resolved Question:

my dog has small red bumps (they look like insect bites) mostly on his head and around his ears, he has been scratching around there. he also has 1 bump on his butt area. what could this be? we give him his monthly flea and tick.

if it is fleas would my husband and i also have bites?

Hi there! This may be hives, caused by an allergic reaction to something. He may have gotten a bug bite, or touched a plant outside, inhaled something, ate something new, or something else that may have touched his skin. If you can, see your vet tomorrow to have the bumps checked out (they may go away by then). You can try and give him a cool bath (not warm!) and use oatmeal shampoo if you have some at home to help relieve the itching. I'm including a link about hives for your information:

It could be fleas, but if you are using a veterinarian prescribed flea treatment such as Frontline or Advantage, it's not likely. If he did have a flea infestation, you and your husband might be bitten as well.

As long as he is acting well otherwise, as in eating, drinking, playing, etc. normally, you can consult your vet in the morning and he can check him out and prescribe something to help with the itchiness.
