Customer Question

We just moved to New York City from southern California a week ago. Our Yorkie has had soft/loose stool for past 3 days with a noticeable amount of mucus. She seems to be sleeping more but is eating. She received a rabies shot about 10 days ago, a heart worm test was negative, the dog was rated as healthy. Any information is appreciated

Poor pup! My guess is that all of this stress of moving, the vaccination, the vet visit...it's all taking a toll on the dog. Diarrhea is a common result.

I recommend feeding a bland diet for a few days. A 50/50 mixture of chicken and rice can be given until stools return to normal. Then slowly reintroduce the regular food.

If at any time your dog stops eating or she acts lethargic, she should go to see a vet. Otherwise, a little irregularity is fairly normal and to be expected with all of the changes going on.
