Get Your Dog Care Questions Answered by Experts
As long as the wound isn't actively bleeding, you can most likely get by with cleaning it with warm water and gentle soap and applying a topical ointment such as Neosporin to the area.
Of course, if the area has a gaping wound that won't close, is actively bleeding that you can't control, or shows signs of infection (redness, swelling, hot to the touch), you should seek medical treatment as the dog may need sutures or antibiotics.
I hope this helps!!
