Hi Amanda,
You put your question in cats, but I am a dog expert as well.

Are the bumps itchy; does he scratch a lot. Most allergic reactions are itchy to some degree. Skin infections can present as bumps, and are also usually somewhat itchy. You need antibiotics for a skin infection, but allergic bumps sometimes respond to antihistamines. You could give the average Great Dane about 50 to 75 milligrams of Benadryl every 8 to 12 hours.

If the bumps are not itchy, then there are a variety of skin conditions it could be. I think you should take him to a veterinarian if they don't go away. Many skin condition will get better with simple care, like Benadryl and gentle baths in something like oatmeal shampoo like Aveeno, but some are serious and will get worse without appropriate treatment. Hope this helps, Rebecca
