i have a french bulldog. he always sounds like he is trying to clear his throat of flem. it has gotten worse today he threw up twice he also spits up in his mouth and swallows it, mucus was comming from his nose and he was foaming from his mouth today. it sounds like he is gurgleing when he is breathing. i brought him to the emergency clinic today and they took an exray and did some blood work and everything came back normal...they gave him medicine for vomiting and gas.. i think this sounds like he has an elongated soft palette.my original vet told me when we nuter him he will look at it while he is asleep. can u please help

Hi there, Yes!! This definitely sounds like an elongated soft palate to me! It is characterized by 'gurgly' breathing, and they often sound like they are actually choking on the soft palate. How old is he at the moment?? If he is not going to be neutered soon i would certainly want to look into the soft palate issue a lot sooner, as problems with the upper respiratory system like this, in the long term, can put a lot of pressure on the cardiovascular/respiratory system and cause secondary problems. The surgery for overlong palates is very successful and should make him a lot happier.
Hope this helps
